UN Takes Action: Sends Memo!

From Mondoweiss:

U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon was advised to tell George Mitchell, the U.S. special envoy on the Middle East, that Israel’s house evictions in East Jerusalem are "provocative" and "that the volatile situation in East Jerusalem is capable of de-railing a [peace] process," according to a confidential U.N. "talking points" memo prepared for Ban before his meeting with Mitchell last week and obtained by Mondoweiss.

The memo also says that the United Nations and the Russians are pushing for a February meeting in Moscow with the other two members of the Quartet– the U.S.Israel’s failure to curb settlements, the memo says, if "something very meaningful" were placed on the table, presumably an Israeli offer on borders of a Palestinian state. and the European Union– in efforts to restart the stagnant peace process. The Palestinians might engage in spite of [blahdiblahdiblah...blahdiblahdiblah]

... de-railing a peace process, I'll have you know! When bags of carrots fail, try a huge stick?

I didn't read the whole post.

I like better the Palestinian struggle as a civil rights struggle than a national struggle. I agree the 2 state solution would be a disaster.

I would add revolution in Egypt, as what could turn the tide.

"I would add revolution in Egypt, as what could turn the tide."

That would probably result in USrael 'regime changing' Israel...

Ooops! 'regime changing' Egypt, of course. My bad.

But having taken a quick look at your Yemen post, I see nothing much has changed at Renegade Eye. The same jingoistic nutcase (Farmer) and near-illiterate imbecile (Pagan Temple) still rule the roost at the comment section of your progressive blog. Sad.
