I doubt Palin will ever be president. Staunch conservatives may like her, but most other Americans think she's an idiot.
The significance of her statement isn't that she will/will not ever become POTUS but that she has enormous sway with a considerable part of US Conservatives who are already inclined to believe what she states and that it'll further confirm these people's stated beliefs (e.g. Hagee's CUFIs).
Apart from that, Palin's utterance will stand as a testimony to her sheer imbecility and how in the US there exists a dangerous conflation between 'patriotism', religiosity and support for Israel...
