After winning a Noble Peace Prize for making a 'Peace is Peachy' type speech (or was it indeed just for Not Being Bush?), our beloved changeling assures the world that he won't stop WW III if Israel wants to pursue it, even if it's based on a lie ("Wipe Israel off the map!") that even Washington by now has quietly brushed under the carpet:

U.S. President Barack Obama has warned his Chinese counterpart that the United States would not be able to keep Israel from attacking Iranian nuclear installations for much longer, senior officials in Jerusalem told Haaretz.
T'is to be hoped the perennial opportunist Bibi, currently in charge of Israel's War Cabinet, isn't encouraged too much by Obama's loose lips... Hope springs eternal, of course...

It could be Obama's way of pressuring China to agree to a tougher stance against Iran rather than a sign that an attack is going to take place.
Personally I don't think an Israeli attack on Iran is likely, which is what makes all this talk so annoyingly 'Emperor w/o Clothes'.
And pressure on Iran isn't needed either: the regime isn't breaking any rules, it needs to only comply with its NPT conditions, which it does, unlike that 'other country' to which these rules obviously don't apply. Talk about a double standard...
Singling out Iran serves Western hegemony in the region and Israel's interests. The rest is fluff.
It isn't a double standard. It's how international law works - sign a treaty and you're bound by its rules; don't sign it and you aren't bound by its rules. That's why Israel isn't under the same pressure as Iran (same goes for Pakistan and India).
Apparently Iran isn't exactly complying with NPT rules. Recent IAEA reports show they haven't been cooperating. Inspectors have complained that ElBaradei has been suppressing the most damning evidence.

I'm not playing with words. International law in this case is what it is and it is on the side of those determined not to let Iran go nuclear. Sure, even if Iran wasn't an NPT signatory it would be in the best interest of the world (and, of course, Israel and the US) to prevent it from obtaining nuclear weapons, but the reality is that Iran is bound by the treaty.

Incorrect on both counts.
Firstly if Iran abides by the NPT there's nothing to stop it from going nuclear. That the West agrees on. And without much doubt Iran will go nuclear. There's very little we can do to stop it.
